"We Believe that we are people who have accepted the call of the Holy Spirit. Being forgiven by Christ, we love, serve and praise God in word and deed. As followers of Jesus we teach, love, forgive and share our faith. Our purpose is to serve and nurture each other in neighboring communities of Vermont, New Hampshire and the world"
Our History...
Prince of Peace Church began more than 40 years ago as an ingathering of people hungering for the Word of God's Love. These were people from New Hampshire & Vermont in the upper Connecticut River Valley (Claremont, Charlestown, Cornish, Plainsfield, Lebanon, Meriden, Newport, Concord, Sunapee, Springfield,Windsor, Ascutney, Hartland) They found fellowship with each other and a will to worship and serve their Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. This continues to this day in the Church on the Hill. We are affiliated with ELCA and the New England Synod.
WORSHIP LIFE AT PRINCE OF PEACE
At Prince of Peace, we gather Sunday by Sunday at 9:30 A.M. to be fed by God’s Word and strengthened at God’s Altar, and all with believing and searching hearts are invited to join us. Our service follows the historic shape of Christian worship:
as we gather and prepare ourselves with Confession and Forgiveness;
as we sing hymns of praise and offer prayers;
as we hear the words of Holy Scripture followed by the sermon;
as we are reminded to thank God “at all times and in all places”
as we receive Holy Communion;
as we are sent to be God’s people in the world.
Although we follow this pattern of worship at Prince of Peace, our styles of worship vary from season to season. In the summer, our worship often follows a contemporary “praise and worship” style, which is also used on the fourth Sunday of each month throughout the year. In the fall, we generally turn to familiar hymn tunes (“Amazing Grace,” for example) for various prayers and songs in the service of worship. During the Advent and Christmas seasons in winter and during the Lent and Easter seasons in spring, we use two traditional settings from our worship book. While the pattern may stay the same, we seek to praise God in various ways at Prince of Peace and extend an invitation to all to join us on Sundays.
